This year has been the best ever for FOCP in garnering local, state and national awards. Previously, you may have read about FOCP winning 8 first place awards at the District level (last November), 6 first place and 1 second place awards at the state level (mid April), and the biggie…… being named the Green Garden Club of the Year for the State of Texas. Two weeks ago, national awards were announced and FOCP won 2 first place awards and 1 overall winner designation for the following projects:
First place for the FOCP website winning the Social Media/Website Award.
The second award was the Renee Blaschke Scholarship Award. This was a 1st place in outdoor education at Kiest Conservation Area. This encompasses the bilingual signage and docent guided trail walks.
The final award was also for work done at the Kiest Conservation Area. It was the overall winner designation for the Outdoor Classrooms / Trail Construction Award. This was given for the constriction of the mile long Meadow Loop Trail. The overall winner designation came with a $1000 check.
The official presentation of the awards will take place at the District X Fall Assembly in Frisco on November 1st.
